The First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake is governed by a Church Council of 7 members who are elected. Four members are at large and three are church officers (moderator, treasurer, and clerk). The Council is responsible for governance, policy, strategic planning and oversight. Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm
In addition to the Church Council, FCC’s programmatic ministry is planned and implemented by our 13 ministries. The ministries meet the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the All Ministries meeting.
Christian Education Ministry is responsible for all children’s Christian education programs, including the nursery, Sunday School, and Confirmation. The Ministry plans special family events, as well as outreach activities for the children.
Enrichment Ministry is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing programs that support the educational, spiritual and the strengthening of family life including Adult Education.
Facilities Ministry is responsible for the care and utilization of all church-owned properties.
Health and Wellness Ministry is responsible for the education and support of members to promote their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Hospitality Ministry is responsible for nurturing members and enhancing member participation and fellowship. Other responsibilities are to concentrate on fellowship events that bring our faith community together for fun and relaxation.
Membership Ministry is responsible for promoting FCC within the community, welcoming visitors, organizing fellowship activities and overseeing new member joining activities.
Music Ministry is responsible for the administration of all the music programs of the church, including music education.
Outreach Ministry is responsible for mission and service to local, regional, national, and global communities.
Pastoral Relations Ministry is a confidential liaison for the congregation, clergy and staff and is responsible for the updating and interpretation of the FCC Personnel Policy.
Stewardship Ministry is responsible for developing and implementing campaigns to raise the funds needed to support the church in its missions, ministries, and programs of Christian service, and for enhancing endowment giving, and recruiting member talent and time.
Women’s Fellowship Ministry is responsible for uniting the women of FCC in a community of worship, education, service, and stewardship.
Worship Life Ministry is responsible for providing a welcoming and nurturing spiritual and physical environment through the staffing of lay assistants and the beautification of the sanctuary for regular and special functions.
Youth Ministry is responsible for providing a Christian environment where youth can socialize, develop faith, build trust and age appropriate friendships within the church.
