Stephen Ministers Are Ready to Care
We all experience challenges in life -- times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend. The loss of a loved one, a hospitalization, a divorce or separation, loneliness, unemployment, serious illness, depression, issues related to aging... The list goes on, and any one of these can send us into a tail-spin. Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care you need when faced with a crisis or difficulty.

We know it can be hard to ask for help and support, but if you or someone you know could benefit from a confidential relationship with an FCC Stephen Minister we hope you will use the Referral Form or contact one of the Stephen Leaders listed below. We are eager to hear from you.

Becoming an FCC Stephen Minister!
Click to view full sizeOn January 25, 2009, Stephen Ministry at FCC commissioned 11 new Stephen Ministers! These members from our congregation devoted over 50 hours to learning and enhancing skills which will help them provide one-to-one Christian care to hurting people in and around our congregation. Currently, FCC has more than 20 trained Stephen Ministers available for confidential care. They will listen, care, pray, support and encourage.

The leaders of FCC's Stephen Ministry will offer training to new Stephen Minister candidates during the fall of 2011. Please contact one of the leaders if you would like to join this caring ministry.
FCC Stephen Ministry: Traditions and Transitions
Sixteen years ago Rev. Arn Schaper and Linda McCutcheon set out on a 13-hour (!) journey to St. Louis to learn more about Stephen Ministry. Together, they gave life to FCC's ministry of Christian care and support. Sharon Woodman and Donna Eversman later dedicated their time to attending Stephen Leader training and were added to the ranks of FCC's Stephen Leaders. Under the caring guidance of Arn, Linda, Sharon and Donna, Stephen Ministry at FCC flourished.

In 2008, Linda stepped down as Stephen Leader in order to devote time to addtional interests close to her heart. Her humor and compassion are forever etched onto Stephen Ministry at FCC. Additionally, Donna has taken temporary leave from Stephen Ministry to attend to personal needs. We miss her wisdom and leadership during her time of absence.

In 2008, we welcomed two new Stephen Leaders to our team, Anne Iscra and Jody Powers. Both are long-time members who have shared their talents in many ways at FCC. We feel fortunate that they have chosen to dedicate their time to Stephen Ministries.
