| Facilities Ministry Update |
| Facilities members: Al Cunningham(Chairman), Dave Flaskamp, Perry Carlini, Kirk Peterson, and Barb Ruhl. Task force members include Gary Riegler, Jim Gesler, Randy Hallock, George Haupt, Rob McCutcheon and Dave Donnelly. The Facilities Committee and the church are also fortunate to have members who are willing to help with all the landscaping needs during the spring and summer months. The following have all been a tremendous help in this area: Barb Ruhl, Barbara Schneider, Larry Dagley, Rob McCutcheon, Sue Riegler, Lorraine Anderson, Tom and Carol Seeman, and Ingrid Matthaei. Our primary responsibilities are the general maintenance, improvements and security of the building and grounds. This includes the heating and cooling systems as well as the utilities. This has been another busy year for the Facilities Ministry and the task forces connected with it. A lot of time and effort has gone into fixing up and beautifying our church, both inside and out. We conducted our second annual "Church Clean-up Day" in October and had about 50 volunteers join us for our many projects to spruce up our beautiful church before the snow flew. Another fall project this year was the front steps. After major renovation and rebuilding of our front entry steps a couple of years ago, we started to see iron stains bleeding through and the paint looking very worn. Kirk Peterson and daughter Kristin tackled this project and it now looks great. Our front sign was also in need of a good paint job and that was also completed this fall. George Haupt painted all of our doors and shutters in the front of the church and their beautiful deep green color really enhances the buildings' curb appeal. The committee also was busy caulking and painting the corners of the building as they were starting to warp and peel. Barb Ruhl and Al Cunningham sanded and repainted the railings and wrought iron gate in the Columbarium. New signage was added to the Columbarium when it was dedicated on October 31, 2010, as the Rev. M.J.A. and Helen Dalrymple Columbarium. On the interior of the building, Dave Flaskamp has been patching holes and repairing damaged dry wall areas throughtout the building. We had the carpet in the Narthex and Sanctuary stretched and re-tacked because it had started to buckle in a number of areas. Paint was touched up in the hallway by the chapel foyer, and we had the carpet in Fellowship Hall and the surrounding area cleaned this fall, as well. We will continue to work with the Strategic Planning Committee to develop more long term plans and goals. If any member has ideas that would enhance or improve our facility, please talk to one of the members of the Facilities Committee so that your idea can be shared and discussed. Thank you to the office staff, Lisa Solarz, Roberta Wajrowski, and Chris Wakitsch for all the work they do for us and the support they give us. Also, thanks to Steve Rankins, our maintenance man. He not only keeps the church clean, he also takes care of many repairs. Once again, please let us know if you have any concerns or suggestions. Best Regards, Al Cunningham |
